The Association of Non- Governmental organisations (TANGO) celebrated World Health Day by conducting health talks and free health screening.
The activities were held by seven Swedish doctors who are on a study tour in the Gambia. They discussed causes and prevention of diseases such as gastric problems, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
The doctors are from Kungalv Hospital in Sweden in the Gambia. Executive Director of TANGO, Ndey Sireng Bakurin, in his welcoming remarks said it is an opportunity to learn and know your health status as far as diabetes, and high blood pressure.
She further added that there is no better way to celebrate World Health Day than informing people about some of the health issues.
In 2024, seventeenth doctors from the same hospital visited the Gambia. According to Christina, MRC Holland Foundation, Kungalv Hospital wants to have an Memorandum of Understanding with Serekunda General Hospital to have exchange of doctors for knowledge transfer.
She further added the doctors visited Serekunda General Hospital and Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Clinic and they will also visit Bansang Hospital.
