The ministry of justice on Wednesday selected two commissioners for The Gambia anti- corruption commission (ACC) , a key step in strengthening transparency and accountability under the anti corruption act 2023.
The government through the ministry of justice made the announcement on x formerly Twitter.
“The final report has been submitted to the cabinet and the final appointment will be made by the president and the National Assembly, the government remains firmly committed in combating corruption in all its forms and recognizes the ACC as the central pillar in this endeavor the public will be kept informed as the process advances towards the formal appointments and operation of the commission.
Meanwhile the a vetting committee comprised of experts from government and civil society was established to ensure a fair selection process , after a public call for application In February 2025, 52 candidates applied , with 29 shortlisted base on certain criteria Interviews were conducted in April and eight highly qualified candidates were recommended for the final selection ensuring expertise in law, finance and governance with gender inclusivity considered.
The ministry of justice thank all the applicants , stakeholders and members of the vetting committee for their valuable contribution to this National exercise and calls on the public to continue supporting efforts and strengthen integrity and good governance in The Gambia.”.
