The Coalition Of Progressive Gambians (COPG) has called on the government of President Adama Barrow to addressed institutional corruption facing the country.

Celestine Kujabi, the Secretary General of COPG made these remarks at a presser on Thursday at the youth monument in Westfield.

“Today, COPG reaffirms its commitment to remain steadfast in holding public officials and institutions accountable. As always stated in our slogan, “Stop the corruption,” we want to inform the public – through press statements – of any individuals or institutions found wanting.” he declared.

He said COPG stands on the ideals of good governance and accountability.

He also emphasized that for The Gambia to truly progress, our laws must be rooted in democracy, transparency and accountability.

He said the public is frustrated, chief among which is corruption and the rising cost of living.

“Let this be warning: public frustration is rising. People are ready to stand up against corruption, abuse, and the decline of public institutions. We urge Gambians to prioritize national interest over personal, tribal, or political gain. The pursuit of selfish agendas today may cost us all dearly in the future.” he warned.

He concluded by urging all Gambians to unite in the fight against corruption and human rights violations, and to support the full adoption of the 2020 draft constitution.
