Starting May 1, 2026 China, will implement a zero tarrif policy on all products from 53 Africa countries with diplomatic ties excluding Eswatini significantly boosting market access for agricultural, mineral and manufactured goods
The initiative aimed at deepening trade relations l, support industrialization and diversity trade routes.
“The policy covers all products from 53 Africa nations, expanding upon duty previous duty-free access for 33 least-developed countries to include middle income nations like South Africa.”the release stated.
The initiative also aims to boost export of processed, value-added goods and stimulate investment in Africa.
“China will further promote trade facilitation, such as upgrading its “green channel” for faster customs clearance and advancing trade agreements.” the release added.
The initiative seeks to strengthen China-Africa economic cooperation.
