China-Gambia Bantaba Launched

The China-Gambia Bantaba has on Tuesday been launched through the China International Press Communications Centre CIPCC alummi with the support of the Chinese embassy.

Held at the OIC Conference center in Bijilo, the event brought together Journalists, Students from various Senior Schools, Media Directorates, officials from the Chinese embassy to device ways of strengthening the cordial existence relations between the two countries.

The exchange program initiative was meant to breed the next generation of journalists, with the theme “Empowering the Next Generation of journalists to Foster Gambia-China relations”.

H. E. Liu Jin China Ambassador to the Gambia lauded the initiative, adding that it will further broaden the already existing bilateral ties between the two countries.

“The China-Gambia relations has gone tick and tin. We will further expand China Africa friendship. We will also invite Gambian youths to China to engage in friendship programs.” he said.

Abdoulie Sey, Director General of GRTS highlighted the critical role of Journalists through shaping popular discourse. He urged journalists to build and not to break societies.

He further encouraged career guidance for upcoming young journalists to be professionals.

Ismaila Ceesay, the Minister of Information , Media and Broadcasting said the initiative will continue to strengthen the relations between the two countries.

He acknowledged the critical role Journalists play through shaping public opinions and divergent views. He said his ministry is committed to enhance the capacity of journalists in the country.

“We are committed to enhancing the capacity of journalists to uphold the highest standards of accuracy”.
