Armed Robbers Stormed Access Bank, Others

 

According to the Gambia Police PRO Cadet ASP Modou Musa Sisawo,   Access Bank in Brusubi was attacked and robbed by three men carrying pistols yesterday.

He stated that the robbery occurred between 1:33 PM and 1:35 PM. The robbery lasted approximately three minutes.

The police PRO said CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts stated that the three men entered the bank from behind, accessing the banking hall through the main entrance.

“The footage shows all three men carrying pistols, although only one of them pulled out a short gun, prompting the bank’s security officers to flee and hide. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported inside the bank.

The robbers were seen collecting an unidentified amount of money from the teller’s counter before exiting through the same route they entered,” he added.

According to the police report, the robbers fled in a Benz V-Boot vehicle without a number plate.

In another incident on January 22 in Kunkujang Badjie Estate, the police reported a case of robbery with violence at a Western Union bureau.

According to the complainant, three unknown men, one armed with a pistol, entered the bureau and tied up the employee, Yankuba Darboe, before forcefully taking cash totaling D77,275. The suspects then fled the scene.

“The Police are onsite to verify the details of both incidents and are actively working to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen funds. The public is strongly urged to provide any information that may assist in identifying and locating the perpetrators,” the Police PRO added.
