Kunkunjang Keitaya Residents Urge Public to Stop Illegal Dumping Near Bruwaa Fence

The residents of Kunkunjang Keitaya, especially those living near the Bruwaa fence, have issued a strong appeal to the public to stop the illegal dumping of trash in their community.

They warn that the growing pile of waste poses serious health risks, particularly during the rainy season.Local resident Sulayman Cham, described the daily struggles they endure due to the unsanitary conditions.

He explained that during the rains, the trash becomes waterlogged, producing a foul stench and creating a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other pests. This, he noted, puts both children and adults at risk of diseases such as malaria, diarrhea, and other infections.

Mr. Cham urged those who frequently bring waste into the area to act responsibly by placing their trash in sacks and waiting for Brikama Area Council collection vehicles. He emphasized that a cleaner community benefits everyone and called on authorities to take stronger action against illegal dumping.

Residents are also appealing for more regular waste collection services and public awareness campaigns to educate people on proper waste disposal. They believe that only through collective responsibility can the community remain clean, safe, and healthy.
